Winchester City Flyers are delighted to confirm Laura da Silva as the club’s ninth summer signing.

Da Silva has five years worth of experience playing in the FA Women’s National League most notably for Southampton Women’s FC and Selsey.

The Portuguese-born winger made over 60 appearances in the National League including the two seasons impacted by the global pandemic.

Da Silva brings pace to Emma Pearmine’s team and has already showcased this during pre-season with superb performances against Poole Town and Milton United.

“I had heard very good things about the club,” da Silva said upon signing for the Flyers ahead of a new Southern Region season.

She continued: “From the first day here, I got a good impression and felt I was in the right place to enjoy football again.

“I feel like there is a very good team environment.

“Since the very beginning all my fellow players, coaches and everyone involved with the club have made me feel welcome and part of the team.

“I’m enjoying the dynamics of the training and always looking forward to more.

“I’m very excited about the season ahead and can’t wait to start.

For supporters wanting to know what they can expect from Winchester’s new winger, da Silva said: “I’m a player that likes to have the ball, strong on one-on-ones, I would say my speed and my technique are my best attributes.

“You can count on me to always give 100% and fight till the end.”

It’s set to be another competitive season in the league and da Silva doesn’t seem phased at what lies ahead for her and the team.

She said: “Individually I hope to help the team with goals and assists this year while team wise I want to help the club achieve their goals.

“I believe that with this group we will be able to be on a more competitive level this season.”
