Eagles win U18 Trophy and First Team win claims second in League

Winchester City Flyers Eagles, one of four u18 girls teams in the Flyers' setup, won the Under 18 Hampshire FA Girls Youth Trophy with a fine 3-1 win at the Charters Stadium against AFC Totton on Saturday. Winchester took some time to settle into the match but were rewarded after 30 minutes by opening the scoring. A throw-in was gather up by Molly Layland who rounded the defender and fired across the goal mouth from the edge of the box, through the keeper's gloves and into the far post. Totton quickly responded with a goal of their own making it a goal apiece at halftime. Kim Ward took up the attack after the break and a piercing central drive allowed her to strike home to take the lead. With Totton heads dropping, Layland struck again from a powerful 30 yard free kick, landing in front of the keeper who, distracted, failed to gather as Kim Ward tore in to the box, allowing the ball to continue to the net, thus securing the win for the Winchester girls. Eagles captain, Emma Moore, was presented the Trophy by Barbara Ward, Secretary Hants FA Women's League, concluding a successful season for Eagles with Manager Chris McGivern and Assistant Coach David Ward at the helm. "We couldn’t be prouder of the Eagles Under-18 Girls for winning their first cup final after previously finishing runners-up in two finals.
The girls showed incredible determination, teamwork and character throughout the match and fully deserved the victory. This group has worked so hard all season, and it was fantastic to see them finally get the reward their efforts deserved".

Second string ladies, Flyers Reserves, complete their Division 1 season by beating AFC Portchester Reserves 5-4 with fight back goals from Poppy Anderson, Ava Matengu, Wiki Laga and Kim Ward whilst the Flyers first team concluded their 2025/26 campaign in fine fashion on Sunday, May 17, securing a comfortable 3-0 win against Fleet Town in the Southern Region Premier Division.
The first half remained goalless in a competitive encounter, Emily McDonough working hard on the wing making repeated runs uphill on the sloping grass at Camberly Town. Fleet threatened midway through when goalkeeper Parker was caught in no-man's land, presenting an open goal chance, but the Flyers survived with a Warhurst clearance. Winchester showed good link-up play, particularly between Northwood and Shayne Prasad, though neither side could find a clinical finish before the break.
Winchester stepped up after half-time though as on 60 minutes, Charlie Snelling latched onto a well-slipped ball from Prasad, rounded the advancing keeper Marshall, and opened the scoring. Two minutes later, Prasad was fouled by Marshall in the box, earning a penalty. Prasad stepped up and converted confidently for 2-0, despite the keeper getting a hand to it which ricochetted off the post and then rebounded off the her. Prasad then made it 3-0 on 67 minutes. Charlie Snelling delivered another dangerous ball into the area; Marshall looked set to claim it, but Prasad reacted sharply to guide the ball home with both feet off the ground. Fleet pushed for a consolation but created little, while Winchester managed the game well with substitutions, including Sophie Byway, Eloise Powell-Rowland, and Hannah Chalk. Late chances for both sides went begging, including efforts from Wernham and Conti.
The victory provides a positive end to the season for the Flyers finishing second in the Southern Region Women's Premier League whilst it makes for a fitting finale for Prasad as she leaves the club after nine years to join the RAF.
