Winchester take on league rivals in the FA Cup

Winchester City Flyers will look to build on last Sunday's 4-1 win as they host Sholing in the Adobe Women's FA Cup.

The two sides meet for the fourth time in a calendar year after playing each other three times last season.

Sholing head into the game off the back of a dramatic 3-2 defeat against Southern Region Premier Division newcomers Fleet Town.

Katie Shorter put Sholing in front before Fleet equalised four minutes later at the Mortgage Decisions Stadium.

A set piece ten minutes before the break put Town ahead for the first time in a closely fought game.

It was a dramatic end to proceedings as Sophie Lee scored for Sholing in the 93rd minute, thinking she had secured her side a point; however, the visitors had other ideas as they raced down the other end to grab a very late winner.

Sunday's visitors have played one more game than Winchester in the league, they lost 3-2 on the opening day to Oxford City before picking up a great win on home soil against Woodley United.

A key signing for Sholing has been the arrival of Lee from Havant & Waterlooville in the summer.

The forward scored 16 goals for the Hawks last season and has already notched five for her new club, making her someone Emma Pearmine will want her side to keep quiet.

Winchester head into the game having picked up a 4-1 win at the Charters Community Stadium over Badshot.

Skipper Emma Whitlock opened the scoring before debutant Scarlett Kirby doubled the lead after the break.

Badshot's Gemma Luke pulled one back with a lovely free-kick, but the resurgence was put to bed when Charlie Snelling and Libby Wilkinson found the back of the net.

There are no new injury worries for the Flyers, meaning Pearmine has the pick of her squad to take on a tough Sholing outfit.

The Southampton-based side will be looking to get their own back after last term, where Winchester won all three meetings between the sides across the league and league cup.

The winning team will progress into the draw for the Third Round Qualifying, while also earning their club £3,000; the losing side will get £750.
