The Under-9 Toucans hosted Romsey Tigresses today in a genuinely nail-biting match that went right down to the wire - the woodwork was hit, and there were some tight calls on the goal line throughout.
It was a real marker of the hard work the girls have been putting in, both at training and at home. Several players stepped up with big performances, and it was brilliant to see some of our newer faces get themselves on the scoresheet for the first time, clear proof that the practice at home is paying off. One of our goalies was once again recognised by Romsey Tigresses' own coaches with their player-of-the-match award, the second time this has happened, which says a lot about the level she's playing at.
The Toucans have real pace and physicality already; the focus in training now turns to awareness and skills on the ball, building on all the work that's gone into running and fitness.
Romsey Tigresses were a lovely side to play against, and we're already looking forward to facing them again.
— Coaches Alix, Alan and Lenny, so proud of the Toucans and their dedication this week and today.
