Toucans went to Hedge Eng Vixens today, to play their first cup match. Absolutely heartbreaking (but in a good way): first we were up, then in the third quarter drawn and in that final phase Toucans were fighting so hard for the equaliser that Vixens rightly punished us. Too much clumping together chasing the ball.
Excellent all round and today Toucans played their first real, grown up football- astonishing the coaches with skilled footwork, awareness and passing. A testament to the work these girls have been doing at home as well as in training. Our experienced players were amazing but it was the emerging Toucans that stole the show today. One debut and several developing players who only started football in July this year were phenominal (one took Vixens player of the match). Great work from a first time captain today who led by example and pre-game preparation.
Congratulations to the Vixens who were both lovely and skilllful, best of luck to them in their cup run.
